Sking Lake Tahoe over 100 days a year provides a life many can only dream of. As a skier for 30 years, I find it hard to think of many places that could compete with the unrivaled
skiing at the Lake. Aspen and Vail are nice, but both don’t offer much in steeps. Europe is nice, but lacks many comforts of the U.S.. Utah has some nice skiing, but Utah can be boring.
A Lake Tahoe skier starts everyday with a choice from the Lake Tahoe Ski Menu: Heavenly, Squaw, Alpine Meadows, Kirkwood and many more.
All will provide excellent terrain and conditions but there are differences in terrain and amenities.
My favorite is Squaw Valley for beginners and experts.
Beginners at Squaw you say? Yes, the top of the cable car is perfect, wide open and flat. A slow chair provides a rest while you learn the ropes of skiing Lake Tahoe. In the spring take a dip in the pool, ice skate and more. Perfect for Non-Skiers looking to be close to the action and would rather swima nd shop than tackle the slopes.
My second favorite is Heavenly, as a past Ski School Supervisor I’ve gotten to know this hill like the bottom of my skis.
